Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Chad Marshall returned to training on Tuesday
for the first time since suffering a concussion on May 4, though he will tread
cautiously having been treated for concussions in the past.
The Crew captain was first treated for a concussion in 2007, forcing him to
miss the final two months of the season.
Marshall has traditionally returned to action after a couple of weeks on the
sideline, but head coach Robert Warzycha has already ruled the defender out
for Saturday's clash with Real Salt Lake, lining up the July 8 meeting with
the Montreal Impact as the more likely date of return.
"He needs to do some fitness," Warzycha told MLSsoccer.com. "We don't want to
push him too much because he can get injured. Usually what happens is you're
out two months and you try to go too fast, there's a muscle injury and you're
out another two months."
