Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Portland Trail Blazers guard Nolan Smith
suffered a concussion in Tuesday's summer league game against Houston.
In the final minute of the game, Smith was driving to the basket when he was
hit on the head by Rockets guard Zoran Dragic. Smith's head then collided with
the basket support and he fell onto the court beyond the baseline.
Smith left the court on a stretcher.
"Nolan Smith did sustain a concussion, but was never unconscious," the Trail
Blazers said via Twitter. "He's undergoing further testing at an area
hospital. He is alert & talking."
The team said Smith's CT scan was normal and he had full range of motion, and
was expected to be released from the hospital in a short time. He'll likely
miss the remainder of the summer league schedule, according to team owner Paul
Allen.
Smith, the 21st overall pick in the 2011 draft out of Duke, averaged 3.8
points in his rookie season.
