Port St. Lucie, FL (Sports Network) - New York Mets third baseman David Wright
has a moderate strain of his left intercostal and will rest for the next few
days of spring training.
Mets general manager Sandy Alderson would not speculate on the possibility
that Wright could be sidelined for the season opener in April.
"Is it possible he will be out for a period of time? Sure," Alderson said.
"But what we know right now is he's going to rest for 3-to-5 days, and we'll
see what happens."
Wright was scratched from the World Baseball Classic on Thursday and was sent
back to New York for tests. He was hitting .438 with a homer and 10 runs
batted in over Team USA's first four games.
