First Coast Olympians compete in Tuesday's Games

Team USA athletes from the First Coast area competed in the Winter games Tuesday afternoon. Brittany Bowe in Speed Skating, Jessica Jerome, in Ski Jumping.

Speed Skating

Brittany Bowe is from Ocala, Fla., along with fellow speed skater Joey Mantia. She placed 15th in the first 500m race and in the final round she placed 13th. Bowe's teammates, Heather Richardson placed 8th, Lauren Cholewinski placed 15th and Sugar Todd placed 29th in the final round.

Bowe secured her spot on Team USA when she placed second in the 500m, 1000m and 1500m races at the Olympic Trials.

Ski Jumping

Jessica Jerome, who was born in Jacksonville, Fla., competed in ski jumping. She placed 12th in the first round and placed 10th in the final round. Jerome's teammates, Lindsey Van placed 15th and Sarah Hendrickson placed 21st in the final round.

Jerome is the first woman to qualify for the U.S. women's ski jumping team.
