Jaguars vs. Chargers, Injury Report: Ivory addresses illness, Bradley, Olson discuss his absence

Chris ivory speaks about injury

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jaguars welcomed back running back Chris Ivory to EverBank Field on Thursday.

The running back was released from the hospital on Tuesday after being admitted on Sunday with a general medical issue.

Ivory released a statement after returning to the facility and met with reporters later in the afternoon. While he didn't want to speak about the nature of his issue, Ivory did say it caused him discomfort and required immediate attention.

Ivory didn't give an estimate on when he would be able to return, but he did say he was "looking to be back soon."

His teammates were happy to see him back in the locker room. Ivory spent the last few days recuperating.

“They were excited to see me," Ivory said. "They wish I could have been out there [for Week 1] as well just to help. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.”

Ivory's coaching staff was also excited to see him return.

“It’s great," head coach Gus Bradley said.

"I had a chance to visit with him. I think at this stage right now, he just wants to move forward. He’s like, ‘Hey, I’m back with the team and meeting with the trainers and stuff.’ He’s always had that mindset to focus on today and what do I need to do and just wants to move on. Just thankful that it all worked out."

Ivory's absence in the Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers took away some firepower in the running game. The Jaguars averaged an abysmal --- yards per carry on Sunday.

“I will give credit to the players," offensive coordinator Greg Olson said on Thursday.

"They rolled with it. No one knew because he was admitted early in the morning, so no one knew about it until we got to the stadium. They hit the ground running and I thought they adjusted very well.”

Ivory is looking forward to getting back on the field now that he has taken care of his issue.

“I’m not going to put a time on it, but when the time comes, I’ll be ready to go,” Ivory said.
