AIR FORCE: Cody Getz ran for a career-high 222 yards as he helped carry the load for the Falcons in a 42-21 win over the Colorado State Rams in Mountain West Conference action at Falcon Stadium. Getz carried the ball 25 times as he became the first player in program history to record four straight 100-yard rushing games to begin a season. The team as a whole accounted for a massive 459 yards and four TDs on the ground. Connor Dietz, who registered 54 rushing yards himself, converted just two passes, but both went for touchdowns, one each to Drew Coleman and Marc Hendricks. The first step in the annual fight for the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy takes place this weekend for the Falcons as they host the Navy Midshipmen. Given to the service academy which has the best record in the triangular series played between Air Force, Army and Navy, the trophy has been won a total of 18 times by the Falcons thanks to victories in the event the last two years. Against the Midshipmen over the years, Air Force has a record of 27-17, thanks in part to an exciting 35-34 overtime affair last year.

BOISE STATE: The Broncos held a sizeable lead in the first half against New Mexico in the MWC opener on Saturday, but in the end the visitors had to hold on for a narrow 32-29 victory which subsequently sent the team spiraling out of the AP Top-25. Joe Southwick rebounded from a weak effort against BYU to produce 311 yards and three touchdowns as he converted 24-of-34 passes, while Jay Ajayi accounted for a game-high 118 yards and a score on the ground as the Broncos produced 514 yards of total offense. Mike Atkinson, who won the game against BYU a week prior with an interception return for a touchdown, forced a pair of fumbles for the Broncos, while Sam Ukwuachu make a couple of recoveries of loose balls. One of the top scoring offenses in the nation the last several years, BSU enters this week ranked eighth in the conference and 96nd nationally with a mere 22.8 ppg. The Broncos are back in action this coming weekend when they encounter Southern Miss on the road in non-conference action. Boise State is 2-0 in the all-time series thanks to a 24-7 victory over the Golden Eagles back in 2008.

COLORADO STATE: Even before the Rams knew what hit them on Saturday afternoon, the team trailed by three touchdowns heading into the second quarter, eventually bowing to Air Force on the road in a 42-21 final in MWC play. Starting quarterback Garrett Grayson left the game early with an apparent left shoulder injury and did not return, leaving M.J. McPeek to step in and attempt a comeback bid for the visitors. McPeek did manage to hit on 22-of-34 passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns, but he was also intercepted twice in the losing cause. Generating 441 yards of total offense, the Rams hurt themselves with 11 penalties for a loss of 86 yards, and less than four minutes of possession time in the fourth quarter. Conference play continues for the Rams this weekend as they clash with the Fresno State Bulldogs at home. CSU owns a 7-4 edge in the all-time series, thanks to a 40-35 victory in the last battle back in 2008.

FRESNO STATE: Derek Carr became the first Fresno State quarterback since his brother David to throw for at least 500 yards in a game, as he guided the Bulldogs to a 52-40 win over the San Diego State Aztecs at home on Saturday night. Carr, who converted 42-of-56 passes for 536 yards and five touchdowns, tied the single-game school record for passing yards (Dave Telford), while also establishing new school and Mountain West records for completions and total offense (579 yards) in a single outing. Rashad Evans finished with 10 catches for 100 yards and three touchdowns, and Josh Harper added nine receptions for 120 and a score, giving FSU a pair of receivers with at least 100 yards in the same game for the 14th time in program history. Robbie Rouse, who entered the contest averaging 129.3 ypg rushing, racked up 70 yards and two touchdowns on 21 attempts. Defensively, Phillip Thomas made a pair of interceptions, giving him a total of five in just five games. Heading out for the first of back-to-back road games, the Bulldogs will take on Colorado State this weekend. According to FSU records, the Rams lead the series by a count of 7-5, although Colorado State records do not include a meeting that the Bulldogs have listed from 1940 that went in favor of CSU, 28-0.

HAWAII: Nothing went right for the Warriors last Friday night during their visit to BYU, the team bowing in a 47-0 final, marking the first time since 1998 that it had been held scoreless. But more than just coming up empty on the scoreboard, the team also had a pair of key defenders carted off the field in the first quarter. The Hawaii defense gave up a staggering 396 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, and 540 yards overall to a BYU program that once included current Hawaii head coach Norm Chow on the staff. Quarterback Sean Schroeder completed 12-of-27 passes for just 108 yards and an interception, while also being sacked three times and losing a pair of fumbles. The Warriors didn't do themselves any favors by being flagged seven times for a loss of 75 yards, as they generated a woeful 149 yards of total offense on the night. On the mainland for the second straight week, the Warriors land in southern California this week to do battle with the San Diego State Aztecs. Hawaii won the most recent meeting back in 2005 with a 49-38 decision, but still SDSU owns a 15-9-2 edge in the all-time series.

NEVADA: Cody Fajardo completed 21-of-34 passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns as the Wolf Pack rebounded against Texas State to claim a 34-21 road victory. Fajardo, who tossed a couple of touchdowns to Zach Sudfeld, added 95 yards and a score on 10 rushing attempts, second to Stefphon Jefferson who registered a game-high 178 yards on a career-high 40 carries. Nevada has now produced at least one 100-yard rusher in 14 consecutive games, by far the longest streak in the nation (no other team has more than five). The Pack managed to overcome 10 penalties for a loss of 108 yards by limiting Texas State to just 254 yards of total offense. Playing in front of the hometown fans this coming weekend, the Wolf Pack welcomes Wyoming to the Silver State for a Mountain West Conference contest. Nevada won the last meeting back in 2000 by a 35-28 margin in order to tie the all-time series at 2-2.

NEW MEXICO: Against a Boise State squad that led by a 25-0 score at the half on Saturday, the Lobos figured to have their hands full, but still a strong second-half gave UNM some hope before the hosts bowed in the 32-29 decision in Albuquerque. Focusing almost solely on the rushing attack, the Lobos produced a hefty 330 yards and four touchdowns on 54 attempts, with Cole Gautsche hitting the end zone twice on his 11 carries. Kasey Carrier, who was responsible for a five-yard score in the third frame, gained a team-high 86 yards on the ground. Quarterback B.R. Holbrook converted just 7-of-12 passes for 44 yards, but it was a series of lost fumbles (three) that kept New Mexico from keeping the game close in the first half as the visitors delivered two TDs and a field goal following those costly miscues. The Lobos will play Texas State for just the second time in history this weekend when the teams collide in Albuquerque. The only previous matchup took place in 2003 and resulted in one of the most lopsided outcomes in UNM history as the Lobos delivered a 72-8 win over the Bobcats.

SAN DIEGO STATE: For the third time this season, the Aztecs put up at least 40 points in a game, but it was the first time the effort failed to push the squad into the win column as it bowed to Fresno State, 52-40, in conference play on Saturday night. Adam Muema recorded a pair of early rushing touchdowns in to help give SDSU a 21-7 edge after one period of play, the team finishing with 179 yards rushing on 40 attempts. Ryan Katz connected on 13-of-23 passes for 160 yards and two scores, but he was picked off three times and sacked five times. The team did get a lift from the defense as both Eric Pinkins and Leon McFadden returned interceptions for touchdowns, the latter bringing his back 96 yards which tied for the sixth-longest in program history and the longest since 1986. McFadden is now just the second player in school history with a pair of interception returns for a touchdown. At home for the first of back-to-back conference games, the Aztecs are set to host the Hawaii Warriors this weekend. SDSU dropped the last meeting between the teams in 2005 (49-38), but still the Aztecs are ahead in the all-time series by a count of 15-9-2.

UNLV: The Rebels were held to their lowest scoring output of the season on Saturday night as they bowed to Utah State in Logan by a final of 35-13. Defensively, it was the third straight game in which UNLV had allowed 35 points, which is why the program is now tied for 85th nationally with 30.4 ppg permitted. The Rebels, who surprised Air Force in their Mountain West Conference opener last week (38-35), were paced by Nick Sherry who connected on 18-of-39 passes for 188 yards and a score. Sherry was also picked off once and sacked on three occasions. Tim Cornett, who entered the week ranked fourth in the conference and 12th in the nation in rushing with 117.8 ypg, finished with a season-low 36 net rushing yards on 17 attempts. Before the MWC schedule begins in earnest for the Rebels, the team still has a date with Louisiana Tech this weekend in Ruston. UNLV holds a 2-0 edge in the all-time series against the Bulldogs, thanks to a 24-20 win back in 1994.

WYOMING: The Cowboys caught a break in the schedule last week after winning for the first time in 2012 with a 40-37 overtime triumph versus Idaho on the road back on Sept. 22. The Cowboys head over to the Silver State this weekend for their next contest, a meeting with the Nevada Wolf Pack in Reno. The Pack beat the Pokes in the last meeting back in 2000 by a score of 35-28, tying up the all-time series at 2-2 in the process.
