Lake Charles, LA (Sports Network) - McNeese State added an FBS transfer on
Wednesday.
It just wasn't former LSU All-America cornerback Tyrann Mathieu.
Instead McNeese State announced quarterback Leon Blouin IV has transferred
into its Southland Conference program from Tulane.
Blouin, from Geismar, La., redshirted as a true freshman in 2011 at Tulane and
will have four years of eligibility remaining.
"He's exciting to watch play," McNeese State coach Matt Viator said. "He's a
great runner and a really good thrower. It's exciting to get a player of his
caliber to join our squad and add some depth to our quarterback unit."
As a senior at Dutchtown High School, the 5-foot-11, 210-pound Blouin was
rated the No. 149 quarterback in the nation by ESPN.com and as a two-star
recruit by Rivals.com and Scout.com.
Viator and McNeese State are still awaiting a decision from Mathieu about his
intentions. The 2011 Heisman Trophy finalist visited with the program on
Friday only hours after being dimissed from the LSU program for violation of
team policy.
