Conway, SC (Sports Network) - The NCAA has granted a sixth season of
eligibility to Coastal Carolina All-American tight end David Duran for the
2012 season.
Duran, from Marietta, Ga., played sparingly for the Chanticleers as a fifth-
year senior last season before he had season-ending surgery on his shoulder.
Heading into the season, he was a third-team selection to The Sports
Network/Fathead.com FCS Preseason All-America Team.
With 58 career receptions, the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Duran is one shy of the Big
South Conference record for tight ends, set by former Garder-Webb player Josh
Miller.
Duran began his career at Michigan State in 2007, when he spent his first
season as a medical redshirt.
He is a graduate student at Coastal Carolina after receiving his degree in
recreation and sport management in December.
The Chanticleers, who were 7-4 this past season, have a new head coach in Joe
Moglia.
