Garland, TX (Sports Network) - Carl Blair paced five teammates in double
figures with 14 points as the fourth-seeded Prairie View Panthers outlasted
the third-seeded Alcorn State Braves in the quarterfinals of the Southwestern
Athletic Conference Tournament at the Curtis Culwell Center.
Montrael Scott (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Jules Montgomery (11 points, 12
rebounds) both tallied double-doubles for Prairie View (14-18), with
Montgomery also swatting away five shots. Ryan Gesiakowski and Demondre
Chapman came off the bench to net 13 and 10 points, respectively.
For Alcorn State (10-24), LaAntwan Luckett led all scorers with 19 points, but
he did so on just 7-of-23 from the field. Anthony Nieves added 12 points in
the losing effort.
Prairie View will play Jackson State in Friday's semifinals.
