Murray, KY (Sports Network) - Isaiah Canaan finished with 22 points and five
assists as the Murray State Racers downed the South Dakota State Jackrabbits,
73-62, in a non-conference matchup as part of the annual BracketBuster event
at the CFSB Center.
Stacy Wilson made a couple of highlight plays on the way to 15 points for
Murray State (20-7) as it won for the second time in a row.
Nate Wolters paced SDSU (21-9) with 18 points, five assists and two steals.
Chad White and Brayden Carlson scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, as the
Jackrabbits suffered a setback for the second consecutive outing.
After trailing by as many as 14 in the first half, the Racers rallied back
to cut the deficit to three points before heading into the intermission
trailing, 39-33. SDSU shot 51.7 percent from the field and connected on 6-
of-11 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes to build its halftime
lead.
The Jackrabbits pushed their lead back up to 14 less than three minutes after
the start of the second stanza, but Murray State went on a huge run to take a
one-point lead at 57-56 with 9:18 left in regulation. SDSU was held scoreless
for a stretch of nearly six minutes as the Racers took full control of the
contest. Murray State knocked down six of its 12 attempts from beyond the arc
in the second half to power its comeback.
The Racers outscored SDSU, 16-4, in fast break points and also, 28-16, in the
paint.
