Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Rod Brandenberg scored 21 points for the Rams
of Virginia Commonwealth as they defeated the Charlotte 49ers, 68-61, at
Halton Arena for an Atlantic 10 Conference victory.
Brandenberg was 7-of-12 from the floor and knocked down three shots from
beyond the arc for the Rams (19-5, 7-2 A-10), who earned their third win in a
row after a two-game slump. Juvonte Reddic scored 14 points with three blocks
while Treveon Graham added 12 points and Darius Theus dished out a game-high
six assists.
Terrence Williams led Charlotte (17-6, 5-4) with 13 points off the bench from
5-of-6 shooting while Willie Clayton shot 6-of-7 and added 12 points. Pierria
Henry pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds as the 49ers suffered their third
loss in four games.
VCU led 34-28 at intermission despite the 49ers shooting 57.1 percent from the
field.
The Rams shot 56.5 percent from the floor in the second half and outscored
Charlotte 34-33 to secure the win.
The 49ers completely dominated the boards, earning a 36-18 rebounding edge but
had 17 turnovers that led to 23 points for VCU. The Rams also put in seven
shots from 3-point range while Charlotte had just one.
