Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Ronald Roberts had a double-double of 18
points and 12 rebounds as the Saint Joseph's Hawks knocked off the Temple
Owls, 70-69, in Atlantic 10 conference action at Hagan Arena.
C.J. Aiken and Carl Jones each scored 16 points and Halil Kanacevic had 12
points and was a rebound shy of a double-double for Saint Joseph's (13-7,
4-3 A-10) which has won four of its last five.
Khalif Wyatt poured in a career-high 34 points, Will Cummings added 11 points
and Anthony Lee collected 10 rebounds for Temple (14-7, 3-4) which had won
two of its last three.
Temple led 37-34 at halftime by shooting 45.2 percent from the floor while
hitting 6-of-16 from beyond the arc. Saint Joseph's remained close thanks
to a 7-3 edge from the free-throw line.
With 5:39 remaining the Owls led 61-52. The Hawks then ripped off a 12-3
run to knot the game at 64-64 with just over two minutes to play. After the
teams traded baskets Aiken made a layup and Kanacevic knocked in two free
throws to put the Hawks ahead for good.
Saint Joseph's dominated inside and outscored Temple 40-16 in the paint.
