Austin, TX (Sports Network) - Julien Lewis scored 18 points to lead the Texas
Longhorns past the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 73-57, in a Big 12 Conference
showdown at the Erwin Center.
Ioannis Papapetrou tallied 15 points and five assists for Texas (9-10, 1-5 Big
12), which snapped a season-long five-game losing streak. Demarcus Holland and
Sheldon McClellan added 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Cameron Ridley
pulled down 10 rebounds and blocked three shots.
For Texas Tech (9-9, 2-5), Jordan Tolbert recorded season-highs with 18 points
and 13 rebounds, while Dusty Hannahs chipped in 10 points. The setback for the
Red Raiders was their fifth in the past six games.
Texas opened up a 35-24 halftime advantage by shooting 46.4 percent from the
field and 8-of-11 from the foul line in the opening 20 minutes. Texas Tech was
just 8-of-26 (.308) from the floor in the first half.
The Longhorns' lead never dipped below eight points after the break.
Texas Tech was plagued by 19 turnovers, which resulted in 22 points for the
Longhorns.
