Mount Pleasant, MI (Sports Network) - Shayne Whittington led all scorers with
20 points as the Western Michigan Broncos made easy work of the Central
Michigan Chippewas, 76-59, in Mid-American Conference action at McGuirk Arena.
Whittington shot 6-of-8 from the field and 8-of-10 from the foul line for WMU
(12-7, 4-2 MAC), which has won four in a row after dropping its first two
conferences bouts earlier this month. David Brown scored 13 points, Nate
Hutcheson had 12 points, and Brandon Pokley tallied 10 points and nine
rebounds for the visitors.
For CMU (9-10, 2-4), Kyle Randall and Blake Hibbitts each netted 14 points.
The Chippewas have dropped four of their last five.
WMU outshot CMU in the first half, 40.9 percent to 30.4 percent, as the
Broncos took a 33-26 advantage at intermission.
The Broncos used an 11-1 run midway through the second half to help propel
them to the 17-point win.
WMU dominated the glass, outrebounding CMU by a 42-27 margin.
