Tuscaloosa, AL (Sports Network) - Nick Jacobs scored 14 points off the bench
to help lead the Alabama Crimson Tide to a 59-55 win over the Kentucky
Wildcats in SEC action at Coleman Coliseum.
Trevor Releford added 13 points and Levi Randolph netted 11 points for Alabama
(12-6, 4-1 SEC), which has won four consecutive games.
For Kentucky (12-6, 3-2), Kyle Wiltjer had 14 points and Julius Mays chipped
in 12 points. Nerlens Noels tallied eight points, 13 rebounds, and a career-
high-tying seven blocks for the Wildcats, who had won four of their previous
five.
Kentucky found itself leading 33-24 at halftime by shooting 48.3 percent from
the floor and outrebounding Alabama, 22-11. The Tide made less than 36 percent
of their field goal attempts in the half.
Alabama continued to struggle from the field after intermission (.379), but
the Wildcats were ice-cold as well, shooting just 8-of-27 (.296). The Tide
took the lead for good, 40-38, on an Andrew Steele layup with less than 10
minutes remaining, and while UK got its deficit back to one on a few
occasions, Alabama closed the game out by going 6-of-8 from the foul line in
the final 30 seconds.
The Tide shot 15-of-21 from the foul line on the night and committed just six
turnovers, while the Wildcats where a mere 6-of-11 from the stripe with 13
turnovers.
