San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Johnny Dee scored 17 points as the San
Diego Toreros outlasted the San Francisco Dons, 70-66, in a West Coast
Conference bout at Memorial Gym.
Cameron Miles added 13 points off the bench and Chris Anderson chipped in 10
for San Diego (9-8, 2-0 WCC) which has won three straight.
Cody Doolin had a game-high 19 points for San Francisco (7-9, 0-3) which also
got 16 points from Tim Derksen and 11 more from Cole Dickerson. The Dons have
lost three straight.
The Toreros shot 60.7 percent from the floor, including an 8-of-13 effort from
beyond the arc, in the first half to earn a 46-32 lead at the break. San
Francisco fell behind by shooting just 42.9 percent.
The Dons went on a 21-6 run to open up the second half and pulled within a
point, 53-52, with a little more than 12 minutes remaining. San Diego followed
that with an 8-0 run of its own and managed to hold off the Dons down the
stretch by hitting 9-of-14 free throw attempts in the second half.
San Diego had a 34-27 edge on the boards and hit 11-of-22 shots from beyond
the arc.
