Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Trevor Noack and Ian Clark each dropped in
30 points as the Belmont Bruins dominated the SE Missouri State Redhawks in an
Ohio Valley Conference battle at the Curb Event Center.
Kerron Johnson added 13 points and JJ Mann finished with 11 points for the
Bruins (12-4, 3-0 OVC). With its 107 points, Belmont established a Curb Event
Center record.
For the Redhawks (10-8, 2-2), Tyler Stone scored 18 points, A.J. Jones
finished with 13 points and Marland Smith chipped in with 10 points.
Belmont came out hot out of the gate, shooting 54.8 percent from the field and
5-of-14 from 3-point range, as the Bruins took a commanding 48-29 lead at the
break. The Bruins used a 12-2 run early in the first half to take a
double-digit lead. SEMO shot 40 percent from the field and just 2-of-11 from
beyond the 3-point arc in the half.
After halftime, Belmont was even better, draining 67.6 percent of its field
goal tries, including 6-of-9 from 3-point distance. The Redhawks were able to
improve to 48.5 percent shooting from the field but were never able to catch
up to the Bruins, who remained perfect in league play.
Belmont had a decided advantage in the paint, outscoring SEMO 46-30. The
Bruins also capitalized on Redhawks mistakes, forcing a season-high 20
turnovers and converting them into 25 points.
