USAFA, CO (Sports Network) - Mike Fitzgerald scored a career-high 30 points as
the Air Force Falcons defeated the Nevada Wolf Pack, 78-65, in Mountain West
Conference action at Clune Arena.
Fitzgerald shot 9-of-10 from the floor and added eight rebounds in the Air
Force (9-4, 1-0 MWC) victory. Todd Fletcher and Taylor Broekhuis chipped in 18
and 10 points, respectively, as the Falcons snapped a two-game losing streak.
For the Wolf Pack (9-6, 0-1), Deonte Burton scored 21 points, while Devonte
Elliott netted 12 points off the bench. Nevada has now lost back-to-back games
after winning its previous five.
A 9-0 run midway through the first half helped Nevada earn a 33-30 advantage
at the break.
Air Force took control after intermission by shooting 14-of-25 from the field,
including 7-of-9 from 3-point range.
The Falcons shot a stellar 20-of-23 from the free throw line in the triumph.
