College Park, MD (Sports Network) - Okaro White scored 20 points as the
Florida State Seminoles defeated the Maryland Terrapins, 65-62, in an Atlantic
Coast Conference showdown at the Comcast Center.
White was 7-of-13 from the field and added nine rebounds and six blocks for
the Seminoles (10-5, 2-0 ACC), who have won six of their last seven games.
Michael Snaer was 5-of-8 from the floor, adding 15 points, while Ian Miller
scored 12, hitting on 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Alex Len recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds for Maryland
(13-2, 1-1 ACC), which saw its 13-game winning streak come to a close. Nick
Faust added 14 points, while Seth Allen chipped in 13 points off the bench.
Maryland led 36-27 at halftime after it held Florida State to 31 percent
shooting in the first half. The Terps made good on 42.9 percent from the field
themselves.
In the second half, the Seminoles battled all the way back and took the lead,
53-51, with 4:05 left after a 3-point play by White. Florida State extended
its lead to eight with 1:07 left, but Maryland went on a run to make it just a
one-point game 11 seconds left to play. A free throw by Snaer put the
Seminoles up by two, and Allen's go-ahead 3-point attempt for Maryland was no
good. White added one more free throw to close out the game.
Maryland turned the ball over 18 times, which led to 13 points for Florida
State. The Seminoles also earned 15 points at the free throw line, while
Maryland scored 10 at the stripe.
