Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Ryan Harrow poured in a career-high 23 points
as the Kentucky Wildcats completed a 82-54 rout of the Marshall Thundering
Herd in a non-conference bout at Rupp Arena.
Archie Goodwin contributed 18 points for Kentucky (8-3) despite a poor 4-of-17
performance from the field. Nerlens Noel recorded his first career double-
double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Alex Poythress also had a solid outing
with nine points and the same number of boards as the Wildcats won for the
fourth time in a row.
Elijah Pittman paced Marshall (7-6) with 20 points and Dennis Tinnon chipped
in 14 points. Nigel Spikes grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds for the Thundering
Herd.
The game was a closely contested battle at the start, but Kentucky closed out
the first half on a 13-4 run to build a 33-24 halftime lead. The Wildcats were
in front at the break despite going 1-of-13 from three-point range as Marshall
shot 27.6 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.
The Thundering Herd hardly improved after halftime and made just 31.3 percent
of their field goal attempts in the second period. Kentucky cruised to the
victory by hitting 50 percent of its shots from the floor and 15-of-19 at the
free throw line in the final 20 minutes of play.
The Wildcats outscored Marshall, 52-20, in the paint and scored 26 points off
of turnovers to fend off the Herd.
