Pullman, WA (Sports Network) - Brock Motum tallied 23 points and eight
rebounds to help lead the Washington State Cougars past the Fresno State
Bulldogs, 59-50, in non-conference action at Beasley Coliseum.
Mike Ladd scored 19 points for Washington State (6-4), which has won four of
its last five games. Royce Woolridge added 11 points on 7-of-8 from the free
throw line.
For Fresno State (5-4), Jerry Brown recorded 12 points, five rebounds, and
four steals, while Allen Huddleston and Robert Upshaw scored 10 points apiece.
Upshaw also put up team-highs in rebounds (seven) and blocks (six).
Fresno State took a slim 25-24 lead into intermission. Both teams shot just
33.3 percent from the floor in the first half, and the Bulldogs were
especially poor from three-point range (1-of-11).
The Cougars improved their shooting to 47.8 percent from the field in the
second half to pull away from the Bulldogs, who regressed to 26.7 percent in
the final 20 minutes.
Fresno State finished a lackluster 2-of-20 from three-point range on the
afternoon.
