Boca Raton, FL (Sports Network) - Greg Gantt scored 29 points for the second
consecutive game to lead the Florida Atlantic Owls to a 72-65 win over the
Arkansas State Red Wolves in a Sun Belt Conference matchup at the FAU Arena.
Gantt shot 61.5 percent from the floor and knocked down 10-of-11 from the foul
line for FAU (3-4, 1-1 Sun Belt). Stefan Moody chipped in with 22 points,
to match his career-high. Jackson Trapp scored eight points and dished out a
team-high six assists.
Kendrick Washington and Marcus Hooten each netted 12 points to lead a balanced
Arkansas State (4-3, 0-2) attack. Brandon Peterson and Raeford Worsham tallied
for 10 points each.
The Red Wolves shot 44 percent from the floor and 67 percent from three-point
range in the first half to help build a 33-30 lead heading into the break.
Hooten drilled a three-pointer to open the second half and give ASU a six-
point advantage. But FAU scored the next 11 points to gain an edge on the
scoreboard. The lead changed hands a couple of times and the game was tied
58-58 with 4:58 remaining. Gantt and Moody took over from that point on,
scoring 10 of the final 12 points for FAU to push the Owls to victory.
Arkansas State had won four in a row before dropping its first two Sun Belt
contests. The Owls lead the all-time series with the Red Wolves, 5-4
