Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) - Drew Parker scored 15 points and dished out
four assists to lead the UNC Greensboro Spartans to an 84-54 victory over The
Citadel Bulldogs in the Southern Conference opener for both sides at the
Greensboro Coliseum.
Trevis Simpson added 14 points for UNCG (2-5, 1-0 SoCon) as it snapped a four-
game losing streak. Nicholas Paulos provided a spark off the bench with 11
points in 17 minutes of action.
Mike Groselle netted a game-high 20 points for The Citadel (3-3, 0-1), which
suffered its second setback in a row. Ashton Moore got into the mix with 11
points and Marshall Harris III dished out six assists in the losing effort.
UNCG wasted no time taking control. Paulos capped off a 7-0 run with by
draining three-pointer to put the Spartans up 23-8 with just over 10 minutes
remaining in the period. The Citadel managed to make only 27.3 percent of its
field goal attempts in the first half while UNCG shot 66.7 percent from the
floor to take a 46-21 lead into the intermission.
Although the Bulldogs heated up slightly after the break to hit 33.3 percent
of their attempts from the field, the home team was able to coast to the 30-
point decision by knocking down 15-of-29 field goal attempts over the final 20
minutes.
UNCG held a dominant 41-22 edge in the rebounding battle.
