to a game-high 15 points on Monday night, as No. 19 Gonzaga cruised to an
84-50 triumph over West Virginia at McCarthey Athletic Center.
Guy Landry Edi followed with 14 points, while Kevin Pangos and Elias Harris
added 13 and 11 points, respectively, for the Bulldogs (2-0), who were coming
off a 38-point victory over Southern Utah in their season opener on Friday.
Aaric Murray paced the Mountaineers with 14 points and Jabarie Hinds added
nine points for West Virginia (0-1), which has lost back-to-back games to
Gonzaga after falling to the Bulldogs in the second round of last year's NCAA
tournament.
West Virginia held a 2-1 lead on a Murray layup 90 seconds into the game, but
the Bulldogs scored the next 16 points and never looked back.
The lead touched 22 later in the first half on Bell's 3-pointer and peaked at
27 thanks to another Bell triple with 37 seconds remaining to send Gonzaga
into the locker room holding a 45-18 advantage.
West Virginia ripped off a 12-3 run early in the second half to pull within
50-32, but Harris answered with a trey at the other end to spark a 7-0 run and
press Gonzaga's advantage to 25.
The Bulldogs' lead never dipped below 20 the rest of the way as they cruised
to the double-digit victory.
