Akron, OH (Sports Network) - Zeke Marshall finished with 16 points to lead the Akron Zips over the Bowling Green Falcons, 79-68, in a Mid-American Conference tilt at Rhodes Arena.

For the Zips (20-8, 12-1 MAC), Brian Walsh, Alex Abreu and Nikola Cvetinovic each added 12 points, while Demetrius Treadwell scored 10 in the victory.

A'uston Calhoun led the Falcons (14-13, 7-5) with 18 points, while Jordon Crawford scored 13 points and Dee Brown chipped in 11.

Both teams shot well to open the contest. Bowling Green converted 54.8 percent from the field and Akron shot even better, connecting on 60.6 percent, but just 2-of-10 from beyond the arc. But even with their difficulties on the perimeter, the Zips were able to take a 43-36 advantage into halftime.

After the break the Falcons struggled, making just 35.3 percent of their field goals. The Zips also cooled off somewhat, but still hit on 47.1 percent. An 18-6 Akron advantage at the free-throw line in the second half was the difference, including eight straight in the final minute by the Zips, as they won their ninth-straight conference game.

Akron outscored Bowling Green 42-28 in the paint. The Zips outrebounded the Falcons, 35-25.
