GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Miami scored four times in the eighth
inning, the last coming on a bases-loaded walk, and beat
Jacksonville 6-3 on Sunday and stay alive in the Gainesville
Regional.
The Hurricanes (38-22) need to beat Florida twice to advance in
the NCAA tournament.
Miami trailed 3-0 after seven innings and looked lethargic most
of the day. But Rony Rodriguez got the comeback started with a
leadoff homer to start the eighth.
Stephen Perez singled with one out, moved to second on a
fielder's choice and then scored on Chris Pelaez's single to right.
Things really unraveled for Jacksonville (37-24) from there. Dale
Carey scored on a wild pitch, then the Dolphins walked a batter,
hit one and issued another free pass. Nathan Melendres'
bases-loaded walk put Miami ahead for good.
The Hurricanes have won 10 straight against Jacksonville.
