JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The JU mens basketball team is picking up right where it left off last year.
Last season, the Dolphins won 20 games for the first time in over 20 years. They defeated Arizona State in the NIT and gave Texas Tech a run for their money before losing to the Red Raiders in the second round.
This season, JU is off to a (4-1) start. They lost to Miami 89-77 in the first game of the season and have won four in a row since.
This past weekend, the Dolphins defeated Auburn on the road 69-55. It was JU's first win over an SEC team since 1994.
While returning players Ayron Hardy, Travis Cohn, Glenn Powell, Russell Powell, and Tevin Galvin have all played a big part in the Dolphins' early success, it's hard to ignore the impact made by freshman guard Keith McDougald. The Bishop Kenny High School grad has started all 5 games for the Dolphins and has scored in double digits against Miami and Auburn.
This week, the Dolphins will play two game at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. On Thursday, they will host Stetson. Tip-off is scheduled at 7:15 p.m. Then on Saturday, they host Florida Gulf Coast. That game will begin at 3:15 p.m.
