FSU's Weatherford to Start Against Miami TALLAHASSEE, FL -- FSU coach Bobby Bowden made the call. It's Drew Weatherford who will start against Miami. Bowden hinted that it's not the end of the quarterback competition saying he considers Weatherford the starter and Xavier Lee possibly his closer. Weatherford, who's about to make his first career start, says the excitement is building.

Jaguars' Pearson on Road to Recovery JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Jaguars quarterback Byron Leftwich is hoping number 72 has his back. Left tackle Mike Pearson is on the road to recovery after knee injury forced him to miss most of last year. Pearson says so far, so good.

Jaguars' Hankton Hears Family in New Orleans Safe After Katrina JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Cortez Hankton's mind has been on the victims of Hurricane Katrina. He's from New Orleans. His parents are police officers who were assigned to the Superdome on Sunday night. Hankton told First Coast News that he has heard from his family and they are safe. They're still at the Superdome and there's no word on if they'll make the trip to Houston, where evacuees will be transferred.

Rain Suspends Suns-Mudcats Game JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The Jacksonville Suns were in action yesterday hosting the Carolina Mudcats. Todd Donovan needed to cool off a little bit. Teammate James Loney sent him home -- an rbi double for a 1-0 Suns lead after two. In the third, Loney with the sacrifice that scored Jon Webber. The game was suspended by rain. It was a 2-0 Suns lead and will finish today.
