JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Touchdown Jacksonville helped the First Coast get an expansion team in 1993 by selling tickets, and now the organization is being revived 16 years later to help the Jaguars stay in Jacksonville.

On Wednesday morning, Mayor John Peyton and other city leaders announced their plans to increase fan interest in the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"Clearly, we are in a tough economy," said Peyton.  "We've got a big stadium and we're in a small market.  It's nothing we can't overcome."

Former Jaguar Tony Boselli and former Times-Union publisher Carl Cannon are among the leaders of the new version of Touchdown Jacksonville.

The group plans to implement a series of events and incentives in the next few weeks with the hopes of creating excitement for the Jaguars.
