Watson, Fowler & Kuchar practice at THE PLAYERS Monday

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- For the first time, fans are not allowed attend THE PLAYERS on Monday, but some of the biggest names in golf were seen practicing on The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass.

Among those spotted on the driving range on Monday were 2-time Masters champion Bubba Watson, 2012 PLAYERS Champion Matt Kuchar, and Rickie Fowler who finished in a tie for 2nd place at THE PLAYERS in 2012.

Meanwhile, the greens on the 4th, 11th, and 12th holes are off limits to the golfers for now. They are expected to be ready for play when the tournament begins on Thursday. After a cold, wet winter and a chemical application program that was "too aggressive" according to PGA TOUR officials, the three closed greens are still under repair.

"We know it was a cold winter and the bermuda grass struggles in that situation," said PGA TOUR player Ben Crane. "It's very unusual to have a few greens closed during a practice round, but the tour is doing the right thing. Don't let us on the greens. Don't let us make ball marks. Let's give them as much growing potential as possible so they are back to normal starting Thursday."

In past years, the practice rounds on Mondays haven't drawn big crowds, so the PGA TOUR has chosen to close the course to the public this year in order to increase the amount of money that gets donated to local charities after the tournament concludes. The PGA TOUR claims that it loses Monday by opening the course to the public on Mondays because of the costs associated with paying for security.
