SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The top of the U.S. Open leaderboard is getting crowded. On a grind-it-out day at the third round of the U.S. Open, 2003 Open champion Jim Furyk and Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell, the 2010 champion, are co-leaders at 1 under par after 54 holes. The 42-year-old Furyk signed for an even-par 70 at the tough Olympic Club course. McDowell shot a 2-under 68.
Sweden's Fredrik Jacobson is two shots back.
Lee Westwood shot a 3-under 67 to move into a tie with Ernie Els, Blake Adams and Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts just three shots off the lead.
The 17-year-old Beau Hossler is the low amateur. The high school senior shot even-par 70 and is three over for the tourney -- just three shots off the lead.
Tiger Woods, who was tied for the 36-hole leader, had a long day. Woods slumped with a 5-over 75 to go 4 over for the tournament. He's five shots off the lead.
