New York, NY (Sports Network) - Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson,
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith and Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker
Dekoda Watson have been named NFC offensive, defensive and special teams
players of the month for November.
Johnson had 32 receptions for a league-best 619 yards and three touchdowns in
the month. His 154.8 yards per game average led the NFL and was the highest in
November since Hall of Famer Lance Alworth's 156.3 mark in 1963.
Johnson posted 12 catches for 207 yards and a touchdown in Week 10 to record
his third career 200-yard receiving game, tying him for fifth in NFL history.
Smith led the NFL with nine sacks in November despite only playing three games
in the month. He also had 18 tackles and two forced fumbles. The second-year
pro has now amassed 30 1/2 sacks in his career, making him the fastest player
to ever reach 30 sacks since the sack became an official stat in 1982.
Watson blocked a punt which was returned for a touchdown and also recovered a
special teams fumble that led to a touchdown during the month to capture the
special teams award. He also had two special teams tackles.
