JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The 2014 NCAA Division I track and field outdoor championships will take place at the University of North Florida campus.
The preliminary round of competition will take place May 29-31, 2014.
Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown said, "Bringing the Division I men's and women's outdoor track & field East preliminary meet to the University of North Florida campus is another great win for the City of Jacksonville."
When runners take their mark in 2014 it will be the second time in three years the university has hosted the East preliminary round competition. The first time the event took place at UNF was in May 2012. UNF's Hodges Stadium also served as host for the Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track Championships since 2009.
UNF President John Delaney said, "UNF is showing up in nearly every national college ranking, putting the University in the national spotlight. UNF hosting the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary is not only a great event to bring to the city of Jacksonville but also another avenue that brings national recognition to UNF and its strong athletics program."
Hodges Stadium is also where Florida's high school state track & field championships will be held in 2012 and 2013.
