JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- As an assistant basketball coach at Bishop Kenny High School, Bruce Kujawa was a mentor for many young men. Now those same people are helping Bruce in his time of need.
Kujawa was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1999. Because there is no cure for this disease, Bruce's health has been deteriorating the last few years.
Alan Helquist is a former Bishop Kenny basketball player who started a foundation to assist Bruce in his fight against MS. This foundation has raised nearly $10,000.
Earlier this week, Alan and Casey White walked from Gainesville to Jacksonville to raise money for Bruce. Their journey started at the 50-yard line at Florida Field and finished at the Mudville Grille in St. Nicholas where many of Bruce's friends gathered for a celebration on Saturday afternoon.
