ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Magic draft picks Andrew Nicholson and Kyle O'Quinn both shined in their professional debuts, combining for 40 points as Orlando defeated the Brooklyn Nets 92-88 to open the Orlando Summer Pro League.
The 6-foot-9 Nicholson led all scorers with 24 points and 12 rebounds, and O'Quinn added 16 points and two blocks in the win Monday. Justin Harper, coming off his rookie season with the Magic, also was impressive with 16 points.
Nicholson, the 19th overall selection last month, connected on 8 of 10 shots and also had a late three-point play to help secure the victory. The Magic signed him to a contract last week.
The 6-foot-10 O'Quinn, chosen 49th overall, is trying to impressive team executive in hopes of earning a training camp invite and potential deal.
