ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say an 8-year-old boy was rescued from a car that was submerged in a St. Petersburg canal after a chain-reaction crash.
Police say a woman rear-ended another car on Tuesday, causing the crash involving four other cars. One of the cars was a private bus for after school karate class with about a dozen children onboard, but none were injured.
A third car with two boys - ages 8 and 9 - drove into the canal after the crash. It overturned and ended under water.
Witnesses got in the water to help get the passengers out. The 8-year-boy wasn't breathing, but police say a woman on the scene performed CPR and revived the child. He and his father are being treated in the hospital.
Charges are pending.
