TAMPA, Fla. (WTSP) -- A Tampa couple welcomed their fourth child into the world
safely in their car on a busy highway Tuesday afternoon thanks to the help of a
Florida Highway Patrol trooper.
FHP says Wiclef Desamour and his wife, Latoya, who was in labor, were rushing
to St. Joseph's Hospital east on I-4 between Hillsborough Avenue and U.S.
Highway 301 when they knew they weren't going to make it in time. They pulled
over and called out to Trooper Dennis Rich, who was investigating a traffic
crash in the eastbound lanes, for help.
Realizing the baby was on its way, Trooper Rich helped deliver a healthy baby
girl the couple named Arabella. Soon after, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue
arrived and took Latoya and Arabella to the hospital.
The Desamours add to their family of three other children which includes a
seven-year-old daughter, five-year-old son, and an 18-month-old daughter.
