JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One man is dead and another hospitalized after a motorcycle hit a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office car.
The crash occurred at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday. The accident had the intersection of Jammes Road and Wilson Boulevard shut down until 7:30 a.m.
Officer J.T. Kramarsic was traveling west on Wilson Blvd. with another officer following behind. They were responding to another call.
The 56-year-old motorcyclist Ray Bullard was traveling south on Jammes Road when he hit the back passenger side of Kramarsic's marked squad car, breaking the back window. Bullard died at the scene.
JSO Chief Annie Smith said at the scene that there are conflicting reports about whether Officer Kramarsic had his sirens on and who had a green light.
According to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office press release, the initial investigation has revealed the marked police car was traveling with its lights and sirens on as well as slowed down at the intersection.
Kramarsic is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
