JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Employees of Tampa Electric investigating a gas leak stumbled upon a human skeleton Saturday afternoon.
The employees found the remains about 300 feet away from a train track near Huron St & W. 12th ST. around 2:30 p.m., according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jay Farhat.
The body was badly decomposed, according to Farhat, so investigators were unable to immediately determine age, sex, time or cause of death.
According to Farhat, there is a camp nearby often frequented by a group of homeless people.
JSO's Forensic Team investigated finished searching the scene on Monday and the remains were sent to a lab for processing.
JSO is continuing to investigate the incident.
