At least 13 children were injured after a swing ride malfunctioned and fell to the ground at the Norwalk Oyster Festival in Connecticut on Sunday, according to police.
Authorities said a swing ride in Kids Cove lost power causing children on the ride to forcefully fall to the ground.
Multiple people suffered injuries. Several others were more seriously injured, including two which appear to have more serious injuries, police said.
Police said the injured have been transported to Norwalk, Stamford, and Bridgeport hospitals.
Other rides at the amusement park were closed following the accident.
The State Marshal's Office is responding to the scene and will conduct an investigation on the cause of the accident.
In a statement, the Norwalk Seaport Association said:
"Regarding today's ride incident at the Oyster Festival, our first and only concern is for the well-being of those involved and their families. We directed Stewart Amusements to immediately shut down the ride area, which will remain closed until the State Inspector has completed a thorough inspection. We are cooperating fully with the investigating authorities. Any further questions should be directed to them."
