JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- According to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit, a 32-year-old man was shot and killed on the city's northside early Sunday morning.
Police have not said what the motive was in the shooting that killed 32-year-old William Rufus Hicks of Jacksonville. He was shot at 1 a.m. at a home on Quailhollow Drive, where neighbors say he lived. He was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.
"I feel sad for the young man that died and sad for the person who did it because either way, sooner or later they are going to locate the person," said a neighbor.
Police know who the shooter is, but haven't released the person's relationship to the victim.
"There's been an indication of a possible relationship, but that still has to be defined," said Sgt. Lonnie Mills, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit.
The shooting seems like an isolated crime event in this quiet turtle creek neighborhood.
"I feel very safe around here, it's a lovely neighborhood," said June Burley.
"I don't have any problem with being in the neighborhood, I feel safe enough I mean this is something that happens anywhere, it doesn't matter where you live it just seems to be a part of life now so you just have to take it each day as it comes," said a neighbor.
