WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WESH) -- Legoland Florida announced a major park expansion on Tuesday.
Park executives said the "World of Chima" presented by Cartoon Network expansion will open in the summer.
The
area is based on Lego's product line, Legends of Chima, which tells the
story of tribes of animal warriors in a mystical land battling over a
powerful energy source known as CHI.
"The
World of Chima" at Legoland will make the first time a theme park has
undergone a major expansion at the same time a new brand and product
line are rolled out.
The
expansion will center on a highly interactive water ride, the Quest for
CHI. Other elements include the Speedorz Arena, where guests can build
ripcord powered vehicle models out of Lego bricks and compete against
each other and a new 4D movie.
Since opening in October 2011, the location has added hotels, a Star Wars-themed area and a water park.
Legoland
Florida is based on the building-block toys and has rides and
attractions geared toward ages 2 to 12. The Winter Haven location is one
of five Lego-based theme parks in the world, and the company's largest.
