POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. -- This is an incredible story of child cruelty in Cobb County, if what the young victims say is true.
Two brothers, age 14 and 8, told police they were repeatedly tied up with duct tape for long periods of time at their Meadows Lake Trail home while being disciplined by their mother's boyfriend.
Arrest warrants quote the boys saying they were sometimes "hog tied" with their "arms and feet tied together behind their backs and lying face down on the floor".
They told investigators they were also tied to a chair with duct tape and kept that way so long that they often urinated on the floor.
Last Friday Cobb County Police arrested Sean Patrick Sterling and the boys' mother, Shawnna Leigh Huntley, both 35.
Sterling faces 2 counts of second degree child cruelty and 2 more of false imprisonment.
The mother faces 2 counts of second degree child cruelty for allegedly letting Sterling tie up her sons.
According to the warrant, the episodes of imprisonment began last Christmas Day and lasted at least until March 7th of this year.
But more disturbing are statements from the boys and physical evidence that indicate they'd been physically abused in the past and never given any treatment.
A neighbor, who didn't want to be identified, told 11 Alive News the couple kept to themselves and didn't associate much with others.
"I can't imagine what those kids went through just from somebody, their mother, letting that happen; it's unbelievable," the neighbor said.
Cobb County Police aren't yet revealing how they became aware of the abuse and are saying very little about the case.
They did confirm the boys are now in state foster care.
Mother Shawnna Huntley is still in the Cobb County Jail under $27,000 bond.
Boyfriend Sean Sterling has been freed on $75,000 bond.
No one answered the doorbell when 11 Alive visited the home.
