JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Firefighters were able to suppress a trash fire that went out of control burning two-to-three acres of land on the Westside Saturday, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.
The burn spread from a trash fire that was started by resident on Maple Avenue near Riddle Road, according to Martin Neely, Florida Forest Service forest ranger.
When JFRD arrived the fire had only spread to half an acre.
JFRD said Westside residents may be smelling the smoke from the fire for the next few days.
No further information is available about the property that was burned by the fire.
