JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Look at your phone bills, we can help you save money.
The Federal Trade Commission said you need to follow these steps.
1. Examine the past three months of phone bills and call phone companies to see who has the cheapest plans.
2. Each optional calling feature you drop could save you $40 or more per year.
3. On your cell phone, make sure your calling plan fits your needs. You should also understand peak calling hours. Also, though they tend to have higher per-minute rates and fees, prepaid wireless plans may be the way to go if you use the phone occasionally.
4. Dial long distance calls directly because using the operator could cost you up to $10 extra. Save money by looking up the number on the internet.
