Murder victim Zenovia King
PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Circuit Judge Carlos E. Mendoza sentenced two men for their roles in the robbery and murder of a San Mateo Man in June 2010.
Evans David Perez Martinez, 20 will spend the rest of his life in prison, according to a news release from State Attorney R.J. Larizza's office. The judge sentenced Martinez to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The release said Judge Mendoza also sentenced 19-year-old Demarkis Phillips, Martinez's co-defendant, to 23 years in prison followed by ten years probation.
Martinez was convicted last month on charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a deadly weapon. Phillips pled guilty in August 2011 to the same charges.

The release said Martinez stabbed the victim, Zenovia King, several times with a knife. Prosecutors said the two killed King after he resisted being robbed of his money and marijuana.

After the two robbed King, the release said they split his property.
