ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Visitors to the Castillo de San Marcos will be able to travel back to the Second Seminole War when the fort was Fort Marion and was a center of defense for people in the area.
The Castillo de San Marcos will host their War in the Swamps Torchlight Tour January 19. The tour will last from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. and will revisit events of the Second Seminole War as viewed through the eyes of a United States Army Sergeant stationed inside the fort.
The war eventually spurred the statehood of the Florida Territory and is one of the longest conflicts in U.S. history.
Tickets may be purchased from the fee booth. Admission for the tour is $8 for adults ages 15 and up, $4 per child aged 5 to 15 and children under 5 are free.
