JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville City Council during its Tuesday night meeting approved funding for the city of Jacksonville.
The motion was originally passed with a vote of 14-3, with two "no votes." Councilwoman Denise Lee said the machine mistakenly recorded her vote as "yes" when she intended to vote "no," changing the vote to 13-4.
Councilman Matt Schellenberg told First Coast News last week he is in favor of allocating $160,000 to hire a lobbyist to represent the city in
Tallahassee.
"We're not getting as much money back as we
send over there, because we need to let them know who we are and what our needs
are here in Jacksonville," he said.
Cities like Miami and Tampa pay lobbyists
more than a million dollars a year to represent their interests in Tallahassee.
