WASHINGTON (AP) - On today's economic calendar, the Labor Department releases the weekly snapshot on new unemployment claims. That comes a day ahead of Friday's monthly unemployment report. Also today, the Conference Board releases consumer confidence for October, while the Institute for Supply Management has its October manufacturing index.
Also, automakers release their monthly sales numbers, as do select retail chains.
