ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. -- The St. Johns County Rescue Department responded early Thursday morning to a fire at the Ocean Villas condominium complex.

Jeremy Robshaw, Public Information Officer for St. Johns County Fire Rescue, said the crews who first arrived at the condo complex located at 850 A1A Beach Blvd. found smoke and flames showing from a single unit.

Firefighters started an aggressive fire attack to get the flames under control.  Robshaw said the main body of the fire was knocked down in less than 20 minutes.

Once the main fire was out firefighters then turned their attention to extinguishing smaller pockets of fire which had spread to other adjoining units.

Robshaw said a total of 16 fire suppression, rescue and command units fought the fire.  Those units included a ladder truck from the St. Augustine Fire Department.

Paramedics treated one adult occupant of the condominium on scene.  They were transported by rescue to Flagler Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, Robshaw said.  The State Fire Marshals Office and St. Johns County Fire Rescue are investigating.
